Titan has a modest 34 years of experience under its belt when it comes to tankless water heater technology. Titan water heaters are an American-made product and is manufactured by Niagara Industries. Their water heaters are reliable, efficient, have a long lifespan, and are easy to install.
Titan is unique in that the company collaborated with NASA to bring consumers a truly innovative, technologically advanced product. Ultimately, the Titan water heaters are designed to fit the needs of residential and commercial applications, and the company accomplishes this very successfully. Titan tankless water heaters are ideal for families or homeowners looking for advanced features but still trying to stick to a budget.

Titan Tankless Water Heater Product Line Reviews
SCR2
The Titan SCR2 product line is comprised of electric tankless water heaters that utilize High-Speed Electronic Integrated Circuity, a relatively new technology. The water heaters in this product line use a microprocessor to monitor water usage and automatically adjusts to fit the user’s needs. As a result, the water heaters in this line offer more comfort (because the water temperature fluctuates less when the water heater can operate predictably), but does so more efficiency, resulting in cost savings to the consumer. The SCR2 models offer a max 0.5-3.5 GPM flow rate, making them ideal only for smaller homes and apartments.
SCR4
The tankless water heaters in the Titan SCR4 product line are a little heavier and larger than other product lines Titan offers. However, the SCR4 models really shine in terms of durability. The stainless steel casing that is standard for SCR4 models provides an extra layer of protection from harsher environmental elements, like the cold. This also makes the Titan SCR4 is excellent for residences in regions with hard water or a higher percentage of mineral deposits.
The SCR4 models offer a better flow rate ranging from 4.5-6.5 max GPM. While this would still not be ideal for large homes, it could be a good fit for small homes or apartments where hot water is being used simultaneously – such as running the dishwasher while taking a shower. Alternatively, it would be a good fit for residences that experience colder winters.
Laser/Laser SH
Like the Titan SCR2, the Laser and Laser SH models are a newer generation of electric tankless water heaters that rely on High-Speed Electronic Integrated Circuitry. However, the Laser models utilize a Incoloy heating element. This element is made of reliable and durable material, making it resistant to hard water and sediment buildup from mineral deposits.
Unfortunately, Titan Laser models are sold in the United States to exporters only. These units are not available for consumer use, but were rather designed for areas where electrical power is limited or inconsistent.
Titan Tankless Water Heaters v. Other Brands
Titan vs. Noritz
The largest difference between Titan and Noritz is their price point. Noritz tankless water heaters are often priced in the $800-$1500 range. Noritz is better established brand, offering 60 years of water heater innovation.
Noritz offers a wider selection of water heater units, many of which are well-suited to a medium-sized home. Titan, in contrast, is better suited for small homes or apartments. Both brands have their place in the market, but whether consumers will gravitate towards Noritz or Titan will ultimately come down to what their home needs are.
Titan vs. Ecosmart
Ecosmart has a slightly higher price point for comparable water heaters to Titan. For example, the Ecosmart ECO 36kw 240V Electric Tankless Water Heater is typically priced between $550-600. It does offer a slightly higher flow rate (six gallons per minute to Titan’s four gallons per minute), better power, and a limited lifetime warranty. The higher flow rate and better power also means that Ecosmart is capable of handling a home with 3-4 bathrooms, whereas Titan is better suited for small apartments and homes.
Ecosmart is eco-friendly in that it only heats up water as necessary – which means that no power is wasted on continuously heating water that is not being used. In contrast, Titan does offer continuous heating capability, which decreases the length of time necessary to wait for the water to heat up. Which brand is “better” ultimately boils down to the individual buyer’s needs and what suits their lifestyle.
Titan vs. Rheem
Rheem has compact units, specially designed for small apartments and homes, that are comparable to what Titan can offer. Titan and Rheem are similar in that these brands are not offering glamorous features or fancy aesthetics. Instead, these modest brands will get the job done at an affordable price. However, Rheem’s tankless water heaters are substantially less energy-efficient in the long-term.
At a similar price point, Rheem tankless water heaters are best if you only need to provide hot water to a sink or two and a shower. These water heaters are ideal for someone traveling in an RV or living in a cabin. However, consumers should note that comparable Rheem water heaters are unable to perform in colder climates. At the same price point, Titan is capable of handling small apartments and homes and can successfully operate in both warm and cold climates.
Ultimately, Titan is the better of the two tankless water heater brands. Rheem simply doesn’t offer the same benefits that Titan does.
Titan vs. Rinnai
Titan is an American-made brand, while Rinnai is Japanese-made. For those U.S. consumers who strive to purchase American-made products, Titan will be the obvious choice.
Titan is also better suited to the budget-conscious consumer, as Rinnai’s biggest drawback is that the units are expensive. Here, again, only consumers who can afford Rinnai and would benefit from the features will likely prefer that brand. Titan, on the other hand, is more (financially) accessible without compromising on reliability.
Finally, Titan struggles to come remotely close to Rinnai water tanks maximum water flow rate. Rinnai regularly offers tanks with 8.0-9.8 gallons per minute (GPM), whereas Titan models range from 0.5-6.5 max GPM. This makes the biggest difference for bigger homes or homes where water use might occur simultaneously (such as running the dishwasher and the shower).
Titan vs. Bosch
Bosch offers a numerous product lines with an enormous range of parts and equipment. Titan, in contrast, offers a very focused set of product lines that aim to meet a consumer’s particular needs. Bosch and Titan manufacture consistently good, but not excellent, tankless water heaters. In terms of quality, these two brands are nearly identical. Even in terms of GPM, Bosch offers a similar range with their comparable models: 0.5-5.4 max GPM.
However, there are key differences between the brands that will make a massive difference to consumers. Many models of Bosch tankless water heaters can be used either indoor or outdoor – a unique feature that other water heater brands simply do not offer.
However, Bosch offers a mere five-year warranty on their units, which falls significantly short of the industry average. Here, Titan is the obvious winter. With a ten-year warranty, consumers will appreciate the longer warranty length, especially since water heaters can be expensive to repair or replace.
Titan Tankless Water Heater Cost
Titan is the perfect fit for a family or homeowner on a budget. The Titan tankless water heaters generally cost $250-500, with most of the models being priced in the $250-350 range. Titan also has remanufactured, scratch & dent, and open box water heaters for sale at a discounted price. The remanufactured and refurbished models are an excellent example of how Titan caters to the budget-conscious demographic.
Because of its simple design, Titan tankless water heaters can cost less than other competitors because – unlike other competitors – it does not require a service technician to install the heater. Additionally, Titan tankless water heaters do not have high operating cost or high maintenance and repair costs.
Titan Tankless Water Heater Maintenance
With the right maintenance, your Titan tankless water heater can last you from 15-20 years. Because of the beautiful simplicity of the Titan water heaters, there is no storage tank – which means that maintenance is incredibly easy. Additionally, the Titan tankless water heaters are resistant to hard water because of their brass casing. Tankless water heaters should be flushed at least annually to keep them clean and free from buildup, and all components should be inspected to make sure it continues to run smoothly. The user manual for your specific Titan model can provide more information on how to maintain your tankless water heater.
